Gautier Plant Kitbash

Trying to figure out how to use Some Walthers kits I already have to make the gautier mills in Johnstown. These are pretty iconic so need to figure out how to include them. If this works They won’t be exact, but should have the same feel.

State of the layout

Base foam is painted brown. It’s been way too long doing stuff the train club instead of myself. Next step is to measure for backgrounds and get with my buddy Frank for ordering from Trackside Scenery. Let’s hope it’s done this year and not in 2 or 3!!

Painting Foam

Almost there. 3 more pieces to paint and the foam base will be done. Need to order backdrops after that. I noticed the years on this site and it’s been a long time coming!!!

Wood work

Got the wood down on the first half of the layout. Got some backdrop wood up and putty on. Next will be sanding and painting blue. I will order a background then. Need to get more foam this week as well. Feels like it’s coming along.

Pepsi

Finished weathering some of the corn syrup tank cars for the Pepsi transload. This is one of the main customers on the S&C. Still need to get some of the trucks and wheels weathered.

SOCA Gondolas

I had two undecorated gondolas, Atlas Thrall ones. The plan originally was to make them into Lycoming Valley gons but decided to use some old BNSF ones for those instead. Tried to sell on but it didn’t sell so they in the end got letter for SOCA and put into scrap to steel mill service on the LM&O at Orlando N-trak.
